  1. EVENT BACKGROUND

Arts&Appetite is a hands-on, solutions-driven event that reflects the District’s commitment to supporting its creative economy and small business ecosystem. Led by the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP), with support from the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) and the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), the event showcases how cross-agency collaboration can drive innovation, opportunity, and inclusive growth.

Throughout the day, attendees engage in conversations that demystify the process of starting a business in DC—from understanding regulatory requirements to accessing technical assistance and capital. The event also highlights the lived experiences of local entrepreneurs and the unique advantages of building a business in the District. By aligning with the city’s broader economic development goals, including the revitalization of downtown and the Mayor’s inclusive growth agenda, Arts&Appetite plays a vital role in shaping a more equitable and creative future for Washington, DC.
